How ISRO Started?
In the past, ISRO started as a preceding agency with the name of INCOSPAR (The Indian National Committee for Space Research). INCOSPAR was set up in 1962 by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru at the suggestion of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai. In 1969, under the government of Indira Gandhi, INCOSPAR was superseded by ISRO.
