Overview of SSC Stenographer Exam Eligibility & Pattern
The SSC stenographer exam is open to candidates who have passed Class 12 (10+2) from a recognized board.
The recruitment process includes two main stages:
- Computer-Based Test (CBT)
- Skill Test in Stenography

SSC Stenographer Syllabus 2025 (Grade C & D)
As we already know that the SSC Stenographer Exam is divided into two stages: the first one Computer-Based Test (CBT), and the second one Skill Test in Stenography
Stage 1: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
The Computer-Based Test is an objective test and consists of three sections:
- General Intelligence & Reasoning: This section has a total of 50 questions with a total of 50 marks (each question has one mark), including the topics of Analogies, Similarities & Differences, Space Visualization, Problem Solving, Decision Making, Number Series, Verbal & Non-Verbal Reasoning, Coding-Decoding, Syllogism, Blood Relations, Directions, Venn Diagrams
- General Awareness: The General Awareness section also has a total of 50 questions with a total of 50 marks (each question has one mark), including the topics of Current Affairs (National & International), Static GK (India & World), History, Geography, Indian Polity & Constitution, Science & Technology, Economics, Important Days & Events, Books and Authors, Awards and Honors
- English Language & Comprehension: The English Language & Comprehension section also has a total of 100 questions with a total of 100 marks (each question has one mark), including the topics of Reading Comprehension, Cloze Test, Fill in the Blanks, Error Spotting, Sentence Correction, Synonyms & Antonyms, Idioms and Phrases, Active & Passive Voice, Direct & Indirect Speech, Para Jumbles, Vocabulary & Grammar

Stage 2: Skill Test in Stenography
Candidates who qualify for the CBT will appear for a Stenography Skill Test, where they need to:
Dictate at a speed of:
- 100 w.p.m. for Grade C
- 80 w.p.m. for Grade D
Transcribe the dictation using a computer within a fixed time (English or Hindi):
- Grade C: 40 minutes (English) | 55 minutes (Hindi)
- Grade D: 50 minutes (English) | 65 minutes (Hindi)
