Namkoong Min was born on 12 March 1978 in Seoul, South Korea. He completed primary and secondary education at Daesung High School in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, & Ilsan Seongsa Elementary School. After that, he enrolled at Chung-Ang University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation, he worked as a Social Service Agent for 18 months at the Korea Army Training Center in Nonsan on August 31, 2006.
