Invented Responsive Web Design

Ethan Marcotte popularised and invented the term "responsive web design" in 2010. In an essay named "Responsive Web Design" that was posted on the online development website A List Apart, he proposed the idea. Marcotte argued in his piece for a new method of web design that would enable websites to adjust to various screen sizes and devices.

Creating a single website with the ability to dynamically change its layout, pictures, and information depending on the user's device—whether it's a desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone—is at the heart of responsive web design. This strategy avoids the need to create unique websites for multiple mobile platforms and offers a uniform user experience.

The responsive web design concept was revolutionized by Ethan Marcotte's article and has since become a cornerstone of contemporary web design. The idea has developed further, and responsive web design is now the norm for creating websites that are usable and accessible on all devices.
