F BLOCK ELEMENTS
F block elements are divided into two series:
- lanthanoids (elements starting with atomic numbers 57 and ending at 71, lanthanoids elements have non-radioactive nature).
- actinoids (elements starting with atomic numbers 89 and ending at 103, actinoids elements have a radioactive nature).
F BLOCK IN THE PERIODIC TABLE
F block elements are referred to as inner transition metals because they provide a transition in the 6th and 7th row of the periodic table which separates the s block and the d block elements.
