Compulsory Syllabus of AMCAT


Some compulsory sections are important in AMCAT examinations such as English, Quantitative Ability Tech, Logical Ability, Aspiring Minds Personality Inventory (AMPI), Information Gathering & Synthesis, and Excel (Compulsory only for Management Graduates).



English


The module evaluates written English skills and is aimed at determining the candidate"s ability to understand:


  • The written text
  • The spoken word and
  • The ability to communicate effectively through written documents.

  • Number of Questions: 18
  • Time Duration: 16 Minutes


English Exam Syllabus


  • Vocabulary - Synonyms, Antonyms, Contextual Vocabulary
  • Grammar - Error Identification, Sentence Improvement & Construction
  • Comprehension - Reading Comprehension



Quantitative Ability Tech


The Quantitative Ability Tech module is ideal to evaluate the numerical ability of an individual and is available in both technical and non-technical flavor.


  • Number of Questions: 18
  • Time Duration: 16 Minutes


Syllabus of Quantitative Ability Tech


  • Basic Mathematics - Divisibility, HCF & LCM, Numbers, Decimal fractions and Power
  • Applied Mathematics - Profit and Loss, Simple and Compound Interest, Time, Speed & Distance, Inverse
  • Engineering Mathematics - Logarithms, Permutation & Combinations, Probability



Logical Ability


The logical Ability module assesses the capacity of an individual to interpret things objectively, to be able to perceive and interpret trends to make generalizations and be able to analyze assumptions behind an argument/statement.


  • Number of Questions: 14
  • Time Duration: 16 Minutes


Syllabus of Logical Ability


  • Deductive Reasoning - Coding deductive logic, Data Sufficiency, Directional Sense, Logical Word Sequence, Objective Reasoning, Selection decision tables, Puzzles
  • Inductive Reasoning - Coding pattern and Number series pattern recognition, Analogy and Classification pattern recognition
  • Abductive Reasoning - Logical word sequence, Data sufficiency



Aspiring Minds Personality Inventory (AMPI)


Aspiring Minds Personality Inventory module does an overall personality assessment of the candidate and is used to assess candidates in people-interaction and people-management roles.


  • Number of Questions: 19
  • Time Duration: 20 Minutes


Syllabus of Aspiring Minds Personality Inventory


  • Aspiring Minds Personality Inventory is based on the five-factor model of personality.
  • AMPI measures five broad-based traits - Extraversion, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism, Openness to Experience, Agreeableness



Information Gathering & Synthesis


The Information Gathering & Synthesis module checks how thorough a candidate is in accomplishing a task with concern for all the aspects involved, no matter how small.


  • Number of Questions: 15
  • Time Duration: 20 Minutes


Information Gathering & Synthesis Syllabus


  • Data Interpretation, Information Ordering, Rule-Based Selection & Locating Information



Excel (Compulsory only for Management Graduates) 


The module assesses, without bias, how efficiently a candidate can work on excel instead of how well he knows or remembers excel.


  • Number of Questions: 23
  • Time Duration: 20 Minutes

  • MS Excel Basic - Formatting Cells, Insertion, Deletion, Page Setup, Cut, Copy, Paste, Drop Down
  • Data Analysis and Presentation - Managing worksheets and workbooks, Pivot table, Analyzing and organizing data, Basic formula
  • Advanced excel - Macros, Sheet Protection
