Detailed Information About UnAcademy

Gaurav Munjal started a YouTube channel while he was an engineering student in Mumbai. He uploaded a short video tutorial on computer graphics to help his peers prepare for their semester exams. In December 2015, he teamed up with two friends, Hemesh Singh and Roman Saini, to launch the Unacademy app, which aimed to create free interactive content.

Starting History of UnAcademy

In 2018, Unacademy acquired WiFiStudy, a Jaipur-based online exam preparation platform, for $10 million. Two years later, it purchased Kreatryx, another online preparation platform geared towards GATE and ESE exams. That same year, Unacademy also acquired CodeChef, which focuses on postgraduate medical entrance exam preparation, along with Mastree and Coursavy, platforms for Union Public Service Commission exam preparation. However, Unacademy decided to shut down Mastree's operations after a year of acquisition.
