"Renzoku Terebi Shosetsu", also known as Asadora [It a category of Japanese drama program], is a serialized Japanese Television Drama Program Series broadcast in the mornings by Japanese Public Broadcaster NHK. 


First Japanese Television Program in 1961

The first such series aired in 1961 with the black-&-white "A Daughter and Me", starring Takeshi Kitazawa which aired in Japan Monday through Friday mornings.


The Asadora have become some of the most popular shows on Japanese television, with series such as Oshin [The Osaka branch's first Asadora production was Whirlpools in 1964], earning an overall 52.6-percent rating for the series.


From 1975 onward, series aired in the first half of the year are produced by the NHK Tokyo Broadcasting station, and series in the latter half of the year are produced by the NHK Osaka Broadcasting station. The Osaka branch's first Asadora production was Whirlpools in 1964.


Japanese Television was introduced in 1939. However, experiments date back to the 1920s, with Kenjiro Takayanagi's pioneering experiments in electronic television. Television broadcasting was halted by World War II, after which regular television broadcasting began in 1950. Japan developed the first HDTV systems in the 1960s, MUSE/Hi-Vision was introduced in the 1970s. 

A modified version of the NTSC system for analog signals, called NTSC-J, was used for analog broadcast between 1950 and the early 2010s.


Asadora currently airs in Japan Monday through Saturday mornings on NHK General TV from 8:00 to 8:15, with a rebroadcast the same day from 12:45 to 13:00. Starting with Yell (2020). The timeslot changes into Monday through Friday mornings, with the omnibus airings on Saturday.
